50 Shades of Awesome!

So excited to get on the scale this morning and see that I am down 15 pounds!  I refuse to weigh myself every week.  The last weigh in was on the 3rd of February and then it was that time of the month the next week and then this past weekend we had lasagna and I had, over 2 days, 2 servings of ice cream, 2 small pieces of pie AND 3 of Chrissy's brownies.  Good grief lol

She made the brownies with a congrats to me written on it as I just passed 2 years smoke free!!!  2 years wow.  I've never felt so free.

Jenn and I did the math to see just how many cigarettes I HAVEN'T smoked...OMG are you ready for this??  On average I smoked approximately 40 cigarettes a day.  Times that by 2 years...it comes out to 29,200.  I was floored! Because I bought them at the reserve the cost was half of what you pay at the store so I saved $5840.00.

Awesome.

Did our taxes for the first time with Turbo Tax.  I didn't have to pay for it because one of Jay's coworkers gave it to me when she was done.  You can do up to 10 returns.  It was so, so easy, and the return is back in less than 2 weeks!  Between me and hubby, we get back over a grand.

Awesome!

Our boy is home, thriving and growing like a weed!  He's so strong! He's been holding his head up since he was 2 weeks old.  So curious, looking around at everything and everyone.  He started smiling last week when we talk to him and that's the earliest of all 3 kids.  He's adorable and I love him to pieces.  I have to get all my lovies in cos it looks like this will be the last one for them.  Over to YOU Chrissy!! lol

Lia is a bit jealous but for the most part considers him to be HER baby.  She loves to pat him to burp him and hold him and help wipe the poop off his bum even though she's totally offended by the mess and wrinkles her nose through the whole ordeal lol

We just sent off another 12 post dated cheques to the landlord so she's happy with us and we're happy living here.  Soon it will be spring and I can't wait to see all the tulips coming up, plus all the bulbs I planted last fall.

Life is good and getting better all the time!

Awesome!

Wow, sounds like you're on a roll Cath, keep it up. Great about the weight loss, baby boy doing good, tax $$$ already arrived. So glad to read all this!

When you do taxes online, do you have to sign up at the rev. can. site for a userid, stuff like that? If that's part of it, I know I wouldn't go that route, too much info they want...but if you can just use the software and it's secure, sounds great.

That's amazing that they allow 10 uses, what a bargain.

Happy Week, G

Hi Geraldine, no you don't need to create a user I.D. I used to do it by telfile but they discontinued it this year. For that and net file you used to need an access code. Now you don't.
You simply do your tax on the computer using a preparation software like turbo tax, save it to the computer. At the end it will tell you you need to save it as a .tax file so revenue canada will accept it. When you are on Rev Can site, you need to put in your date of birth and sin number. That's it.

They stopped with telefile because most people do their taxes by computer nowadays. It wasn't as hard as I thought. You can print out the forms at the end to have a hard copy and I definetly recommend that cos as you know we have to keep copies for 6 years. It's back in 8 to 10 business days.

Turbo tax says 10 copies but like in my daughters case, if you make less than 25,000 it doesn't count toward the 10 uses.

Hope this helps!@ :)

PS: Helps a lot, thank you! I do NOT enjoy navigating the Rev. Can. site with their (I guess former) need for passwords and question after question for sec. purposes, got so annoying even signing up. I'll keep this in mind for next year, we went the paper route this year LOL. They still mail out assessements though, so that's another place they could save some trees.

Happy Weekend, G

PS: Yummy, healthier cookie recipe if you click through my sign on link this time. :<)You still gotta have a cookie now and then, right?

A cookie??? I ate 4 chocolate chunk tonite! lol

I still eat goodies, I just try to limit it to 1 day a week like tonite we had subs, not great but better than mcds lol

I'll check out the recipe.

Glad it helps, maybe it was setting up the "my account" that made you jump through hoops? I didn't bother, I just went straight to netfile. You really don't need an account and if you want to check on the status to see if its been processed, there's a number to call and all you need besdies DOB and SIN is your net income from the previous year. They seem to have made it very user friendly and basically and thankfully for me, idiot proof! lol

So when is the gov't going to get around to giving us interest on those overpayments??? that's what I'd like to know. probably not gonna happen, right??

When I owed money a couple of times, they didn't let me forget that and that did come with interest owing, from me.

Maybe a good thing for a candidates platform? If they only kept their promises afterwards!

Happy Weekend and thanks for the info. it was helpful. G
